Artist Statement
I have an idea for a painting in my head all the time. I often dream about them. I attempt to capture a "slice of the moment" and create a painting that will draw the viewer into that moment, with an invitation to stay a while and enjoy the sunshine, feel the peace, the awe, the respect for life or the innocence depicted.
I enjoy using color and detail to tell a story or create a "universal memory". I much prefer portraits that depict individuals or groups engrossed in the activities that define them, rather than that of a formal setting. My purpose in painting is to be inspired and relay that inspiration to others. What inspires me may not inspire others, but I hope that my viewers and I can share and grow as God's creations by endeavoring to inspire each other.
